1st Bath

Bennett wasn't too sure about his first bath in the big tub, he pretty mach just sat there stone faced the whole time.  But he didn't cry like his little sponge sink baths so that was a major plus!
Grace loves to help with Bennett, she says she doesn't love him but she loves to get his towel and wash cloth, pick out his clothes and lotion him when he gets out of the bath.  She wants to hold him on the couch and help feed him.
 Yep, she's pretty much smitten!
At 16 days old we braved a trip to Lagoon.  We were only there for a few hours and I didn't get Bennett out of his stroller once.  I didn't want people breathing on my new baby.  The kids had fun!
Daddy feeding time, and getting a little nap in too.  These "long" nights are so hard on him.  Hahaha.  Really I don't mind getting up at night with Bennett, he pretty much eats around 10, gets up at 2 and 6 and then sleeps for a few more hours.  (That was his 2 week sleep schedule.)  I love the time in the night when it's just me and him.  Until Bennett was about 6 weeks old he would take almost an hour to eat 2-3 ounces, sometimes longer.  He is the slowest eater I've ever seen!
I have missed having a little one in the house, I didn't realize how much until Bennett was born, I love everything about him.  Bathing him, talking to him, making faces, cuddling.

What's wrong with my mom?

Can you believe my mom hasn't blogged on over 2 months!!!!  It's a crying shame!  I'm so stinking cute, we've been up to so much this summer, I've got huge and she hasn't written down a single thing since I was a couple weeks old.  Dang her!

Max's 4 year pictures

These are Max's four year pictures, the quality isn't so good because I just took pictures of the Kiddie Kandids shots, but sorry, I wasn't paying $150 for a disc!

I really liked these pictures, she captured all of Max's multiple personalities!

And then there was Sunday...after church Max came upstairs with no pants on playing Grace's Barbie Guitar, the kid is a total ham.  He makes me laugh and drives me crazy every single day!

2 week checkup

Bennett went in for his 2 week check up on May 30th.  He was the the old guy in the waiting room that morning, there were three other babies there for jaundice checks.  Where else can you go and be the oldest at 2 weeks old?

Bennett looked great!  He was up to 7lbs 9oz - 19%, 20.5 in - 43%, and his head was 14in  - 21%.  He screamed for a good few minutes after they did his PKU test, I can't wait until he gets his shots!

When the doctor checked him he pulled off his belly button cord - I had always been told don't do this, let it come of on it's own.  Grace and Max's both fell off between 7-9 days, but he just looked at it, said it was barely hanging on and pulled it off.  Bring on bath time!  Bennett does not like his sponge sink baths!

At two weeks Bennett is sleeping much better!  He's only waking up once per night, I feed him around 10pm and then he gets up between 2-230 and then will sleep until 6 or 7.  I can handle that!  He is still the slowest eater I've ever met and takes around an hour to drink 2 oz.

Bennett's first week

Bennett's first few days home from the hospital were fun - I'll be honest I don't mind getting up at night - and I love having a new baby in the house.  It's been four years and there are things I've forgot.

Bennett had a mild case of Jaundice and it peeked on day 4 and 5, he went in for a jaundice check on day 6 and by then his color looked really good.

He didn't love his baths, at all.  He pees every time, and in the first two days he peed through or on every undershirt I had for him.  If I point his boy parts down he pees up his back, if I just let them go where the diaper dictates he pees out in the front - he also is a pro at getting me when I go to Vaseline his peeps.  Totally forgot about that part.

Max loves to share his toys with Bennett, he kept handing him the Thor hammer, so I made him turn over the Helmet too, my little Avenger.

Grace is a huge help, but won't admit it.

At a week old Bennett is a pretty easy going baby, he likes being held, he sleeps pretty good - during the day he wants to eat every 4 hours and during the night every two hours, and he is a SLOW eater.  I had guzzle guts before but he likes to take every sip and savor it I guess because it takes him over an hour to eat 2 oz.

I think his eyes will be blue, they kind of go blue, then dark grayish and then back to blue.  I never thought I'd have blue eyed kids!

I love this little man more than I can say!

Preschool Graduation

Grace and Max had preschool graduation last week.  On Tuesday they had a fun outside game day where they both came home laughing, and with all sorts of stories.  Wednesday we met the rest of their class at McDonald's, their teachers had them all kids meals lined up and the kids ate and played.

Grace came over to me and said "Mom, don't you think Mrs. Palmer is a great teacher?  Did you notice when she called the kids to come and eat they all went and sat down?"  When I asked why she listened to Mrs. Palmer and not me she told me because Mrs. Palmer puts kids in time out when they don't listen.  Apparently Mrs. Palmer's timeouts are more effective than mine!

All the kids who passed off the 4 goals this year got a special treat and certificate.  The four goals were 1- Knowing their phone number including area code & their full name.  2- Knowing their address and parents names.  4 - Tieing their shoes all by themselves.  And for the life of me I can't remember the 3rd thing, I'll ask Grace in the morning.

I was prepared for Grace not to get this certificate because she had until May 16th to pass it off, as of May 15th she couldn't get it, but when she came to the hospital on May 16th to see her new brother she was so proud as she proclaimed she passed off her goal!  It just clicked when she watched one of the other boys tie his shoes.  I was so proud of her, plus she gets this really cute look on her face when she does something really well.

Grace got her Kindergarten ready certificate, a special prize for completing preschool and her goal certificate.

Max got his preschool completion prize (the goals were for the older kids heading into Kindergarten).  Max was too busy playing in the play area with some of the other kids to get too many pictures.

Grace with Mrs Palmer and Ms. Tia.  Both of the kids really enjoyed this year, they had fun crafts and learned so much.

Lagoon

Rewind - 4 days before I was due we decided to take the kids to Lagoon with our season passes again, we knew we probably wouldn't go for awhile after Bennett was born and wanted to get as much use out of the passes as we could.  Also, I thought just maybe walking around Lagoon on a hot day might put me into labor.  It didn't work, but we still had fun.

When we got there we found out there was a dance competition going on, and it was BUSY.  The lines for the rides weren't too bad at first, but everywhere we went we heard tap tap tap X 10.  I always thought you weren't suppose to wear your dance shoes around, but a million cloggers going tap tap tap, and my severe aversion to repetitive noise about did me in.

The kids were excited to ride The Bat, so while Mike took one of them on that ride I rode the Sea Odyssey with the other, I really like that ride.  You don't get too wet, and it's cute.

Grace rode the Lady Bug drop, for the first and probably the last time, I think she got her dad's fear of heights, she didn't cry - but it was obvious she didn't like it.

Max on the other hand loved it, he is quite the little dare devil.  Both kids love riding Bulgy the Whale - a ride I remember from my childhood.

The bumper cars was one of the kids favorites, and the most talked about ride since - Max could hardly make the car move for most of the ride.
The last ride we rode was the Ferris Wheel, Mike hated every single minute of it - I love looking out over the valley, but it was probably the only time we'll ride it this year.
