Bear Lake

Well it's been like over a month since we went to Bear Lake, and I'm so behind, and the last two times I've tried I haven't been able to post pictures - but wallah, I can tonight, so even though its 1130 at night, here I am. Bear Lake was pretty low key this year, school had started and the condos were completely empty, I couldn't believe what a difference one week made. The water was as warm as I've ever felt it, and we had a couple really nice days.

Grace really liked the tube, she is so much more brave than last year. she was a total trooper about the initial cold water shock, and just loved being in the water. Next year maybe we'll try some water skies.

Max and I went over the front of the tube, I new it was happening and you can see in the bottom right hand picture the tube is starting to go under. It works much better with either one person or 3 people on it. I can't ski to save my life, but I do love the big tube!

Max loves driving the boat, he was so tired but he just wanted to stay on Grandpa's lap, after a few minutes he fell asleep with his hand still on the wheel.

The one scary thing that happened was when Grace was on the tube with me and Mike's mom. We had been on for several minutes and Grace said her arms were getting tired so I motioned to slow down. Just as I did we got caught in a swell and the tube flipped over. I tried to grab for Grace but couldn't get her, when I came up out of the water I couldn't find her. Ruth came up and still no Grace. I was scared to death. Those were the longest seconds of my life. I'm guessing about 30 seconds past and the tube flipped back over and there was Grace, still hanging on. She had flipped over the front edge but she held on. If she'd just let go she'd have floated to the top, but because she wouldn't let go she was held under the tube. Grace was screaming and I just knew the only way she could still be attached to the tube was if she was caught up in the rope, Mike went to jump in but didn't have a life jacket, his dad stopped him and jumped in after Grace. She wasn't caught in the rope, the little, stubborn girl was just hanging on for dear life.

I was shaking so bad, and she was so pale. Later I found marks under her arm where I tried to grab her and under the other arm where her life jacket cut into her skin, it pulled her so hard that it cut her under arm, and she didn't let go. I have no idea how she did it, but I'm so thankful we had angels on the water with us that day.

I love that they dare ride on the tube! So we had the same experience the week before school started in Bear Lake except there were 6 kids on a tube just like yours and it flipped and holy crap was it scary! Luckily Taya had just got off! You did have angels watching over you! WOW im so grateful that she is ok!! Oh and after our tube flipped I wouldnt let Taya back on the rest of the weekend :)
